Navy Corpsman Devil Doc Challenge Coin

Navy Corpsman have been an essential part of the Marine Corps mission since we were born in 1775.  Corpsmen were not formally recognized until June, 1898.  Before then, the job of a Corpsman was to remain below the ships deck.  With hot irons ready to cauterize wounds as soon as the get amputated.  In addition, they would also keep a bucket of sand to keep sailors from slipping on blood below deck.

    After the death of my husband & I retired I started volunteering at our local VA office. The VSO I work with is the greatest young man who was a Navy Corpsman. I gave it to him recently & he loves it. Thanks for having such great challenge coins.
