US Marine Corps Delivers Emergency Hospital in Turkey in Turkey in a race against time, U.S. Marines, Sailors, Soldiers, and Airmen built a 100-bed emergency hospital in just a week to provide assistance to survivors of its catastrophic earthquakes. At Devildog Shirts we honor our men and women that assist with disaster relief at the most difficult of times for our foreign allies. Our Marine Corps challenge coins and Corpsmen coins are just some of the examples of our art displayed on military coins for our men and women in uniform.

This initiative is part of the continuous commitment by the U.S. Department of Defense and United States Marine Corps to aid those in need, and it was completed in collaboration with the U.S. Naval Forces Europe and the U.S. Agency for International Development.

The construction of the field hospital was requested by the Turkish government, and the 633rd Surgical Operations Squadron, Langley Air Force Base, Medical Installation Support Team provided assistance in its establishment. The hospital was built in Antakya, Turkey, and it was made operational with the help of the Ministry of Health through USAID.

The hospital is equipped with an emergency room, two operating rooms, an intensive care unit, and is capable of providing pediatric care. The Marines of TF 61/2, Airmen from 39th Air Base Wing, and Airmen from the 633rd Surgical Operations Squadron worked day and night to set up the hospital in less than five days, beating the estimated completion time of seven days.

The hospital was officially turned over to the Turkish authorities on March 7, and it is an excellent example of how the U.S. Department of Defense is committed to helping allies in times of need. Brig. Gen. Andrew Priddy, commanding general, TF 61/2, expressed his pride in his team and their dedication to helping the Turkish people.

The U.S. Naval Forces Europe-U.S. Naval Forces Africa has a long-standing history of forging strategic relationships with allies and partners to preserve security and stability. The U.S. Sixth Fleet, which is permanently assigned to NAVEUR-NAVAF, employs maritime forces through the full spectrum of joint and naval operations to ensure that the U.S. Navy is ready to respond to crises worldwide.

The establishment of the emergency hospital is just one example of how the U.S. military and its partners work to assist those in need and promote global security. The joint effort by the Marines, Sailors, Soldiers, and Airmen demonstrates the commitment to helping people in times of crisis, and the goodwill between the U.S. and Turkish governments.
